We MUST HAVE a Permanent solution to the West Lake Landfill / Bridgeton Landfill CRISIS
Working with the EPA
I have spent the last years focused on a permanent resolution to the radioactive waste crisis in Bridgeton. In June of 2017 I sat down face to face with the leaders of the EPA in Washington DC and demanded action and a remedy cleaning up the illegally dumped radioactive material in the West Lake Landfill. After many phone calls and meetings with Federal officials, a proposed remedy was announced in February 2018. I am currently working with the EPA on the final remedy that will be announced in September 2018.

Community Benefit Fund
My work as a Representative often extends outside the walls of the Capitol building. When I see an opportunity to help out, I will work hard to pursue it, The State of Missouri has been engaged in a lawsuit against the owners of the West Lake/Bridgeton Landfill since 2013. In early 2017 I engaged in a series of meeting with the attorneys in the Attorney General's office to push for a Community Benefit Fund to be included in the legal action. After many discussions and extraordinary efforts by Deputy Attorney General Ryan Bangert, we were able to win a settlement that not only guarantees long term maintenance and management of the "subsurface smoldering event" but includes $12.5 MILLION dollars to benefit the local residents.
